The Young Lions Competition is the quickest route to the pinnacle of German creativity. Those who snag Bronze, Silver, or Gold on the grand stage in Cannes are among the most creative minds in the world.
This competition for emerging talent ensures that your career ascends the ladder without detours. Our history proves it: we send medal hunters to Cannes.
NATIONAL PRELIMINARY DECISION
Before reaching that point, you must prove yourselves as a duo in front of a distinguished jury at the national preliminary round organised by Weischer. Your team must be based in Germany and meet the following criteria at the time of the competition:
- Active in the creative industry, including freelancers
- Aged 30 or under at the time of the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity
- Excellent English skills (fluent in both spoken and written English)
APPLICATION PHASE
Every year on February 1st, Weischer opens the official application portal for the national Young Lions Competition. From then on, you can submit your applications in the respective categories until the end of the month.

CATEGORIES
These are the categories in which you can compete.

Your task: Create a print ad within 24 hours for a client who will remain unknown until the briefing.

Your task: Develop an innovative media strategy within 24 hours for a client who will be revealed only during the briefing.

Your task: Craft a digital campaign within 24 hours for a client whose identity will be disclosed at the briefing.

Your task: Produce a commercial film within 48 hours for a client who will only be introduced at the briefing.

Your task: Create a mood board within 24 hours for a client whose identity will be revealed at the briefing.

Your task: Develop a PR campaign within 24 hours for a client who will remain unknown until the briefing.
APPLICATION PROCESS
From all the applications received by Weischer during the application phase, a panel of experts will select the five teams with the greatest potential in each discipline and invite them to the National Preliminary Round at the Weischer Headquarters in Hamburg.
There, you will face the same conditions as in the Young Lions Competition in Cannes: an unknown brief, real clients, real tasks, a critical jury, and only 24 hours to complete your work (48 hours for the Film category). Those who sleep, lose!
Only the teams that outperform their competitors in our preliminary round will accompany us to the international Young Lions Competition at the Croisette.
