CREATIVITY MEETS TRADITION
For nearly 30 years, Weischer has been the official German and Swiss representative of the world’s most prestigious creative festival: the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
As a representative, we undertake various tasks, such as promoting young creative talent in Germany and Switzerland through the Young Lions Programme. We also manage the selection process and applications for German and Swiss jurors who evaluate top creatives’ work from around the world at the Cannes Lions Festival.
Moreover, we serve as the festival’s voice in these countries and independently develop communication measures and projects related to the Cannes Lions Festival.

A HISTORY THAT CONNECTS
The festival on the Côte d’Azur holds a special place for us, as it not only tells the media story of the past decades but also our own. The name itself hints at its origins, as the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity was inspired by the International Film Festivals of Cannes and Venice. In the 1950s, a group of international cinema advertisers were convinced that the creators of advertising films deserved the same recognition as their colleagues in the film industry.
Thus, the cinema association Screen Advertising World Association (SAWA) initiated the “International Film Advertising Festival,” which later evolved into the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
Cinema is the bridge that made us a representative, as Weischer’s story begins with cinema advertising. Weischer was founded in 1954 as an independent specialist agency for cinema advertising. We, specifically Weischer.Cinema, have been a member of the SAWA since 1996.
Our membership in the association, combined with our passion for creativity and the advertising industry, led us to take on the representation for Germany in 1996. In 2017, we extended our representation to Switzerland.

Advertisers are the stars of the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. But they don’t just win awards and bask in the glory. Through their campaigns, they tell stories, move people, shift perspectives, and drive positive social change. Advertising can do much more than just sell yogurt. We see this every year when we’re in Cannes, admiring the work of the world’s best creatives. We are proud to be part of this success story as the official representatives of the festival for Germany and Switzerland, supporting creatives in their mission.
For nearly 30 years, we have been bringing the creative community together, connecting them with the international industry, and ensuring that the Cannes Lions Festival gains even greater recognition. Our platforms help creative minds expand their networks and actively participate in the festival.
With our extensive activities, we are among the most active festival representatives worldwide, spanning around 90 nations. For our dedication, we were honoured as Representative of the Year by the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in 2022.
